Introducing Sarah May Marshall, jewellery designer and owner of SMJ
Sarah grew up on the sunny Caribbean island of Trinidad, providing a great source of inspiration for her work. The
natural landscape, seeds, pods, vibrant colours and carnival are all embedded into her subconscious, the result of
which is evident in her unique and playful design style.

Sarah left Trinidad to train in metalwork & jewellery at Buckingamshire University, followed by an MA at the prestigious
Royal College of Art.

Her collections vary from precious metal and diamond work to mechanism based objects and flamboyant catwalk pieces
in bright plastics. More recently she launced a collection of kinetic jewellery that moves with the movement of the body.

In 2006 Sarah opened her jewellery boutique, SMJ, in Richmond where she continues to make and showcase her designs

alongside a variety of established makers from the UK and Caribbean.

Sarah continues to push the boundaries of jewellery design, exhibiting both in the Uk and internationally and has been featured in a number
of magazines and publications including Jewellery focus, Destinations, The Guardian and Jewellery Design by Elizabeth Olver.
